Shabbat Shekalim, Sabbath of Shekels, takes place on the Shabbat before or on the 1st of Adar. In leap years the day falls at the beginning of Adar II. A maftir portion is read from Exodus 30:11-16 as a reminder to contribute a half shekel towards the upkeep of the Tabernacle. The normal haftarah for Terumah, 1 Kings 5:12-6:13

Shabbat Zachor, Sabbath of remembrance, is the Shabbat immediately preceding Purim. A maftir portion is read from Deuteronomy 25:17-19, describing the attack by Amalek. The normal haftarah for Tetzaveh, Ezekiel 43:10-27, is not read.

Shabbat Parah, Sabbath of the red heifer, is the shabbat three weeks before Pesach. A maftir portion is read from Numbers 19:1-22 as a reminder to cleanse oneself in preparation for eating the Passover sacrifice. The normal haftarah for Vayak'hel, 1 Kings 18:46-19:21, is not read.

Shabbat HaChodesh, Sabbath of the month, takes place on the Shabbat preceding the first of the Hebrew month of Nisan during which Passover is celebrated (or on the 1st of Nisan itself if it falls on Shabbat). A maftir portion is read from Exodus 12:1-20 which includes the commandment of the first month and the laws of Pesach. The normal haftarah for Vayikra, Isaiah 43:21-44:23, is not read.
